Baptism

June 8, 2016 By Jesse

Matthew 3:13-17 shows us how Jesus regarded baptism. What can we learn from Him on this subject?

Flee, Follow, Fight

June 2, 2016 By Jesse

As people following after Jesus, our practice should be to remain uncontaminated by the world around us so that we can present ourselves to Christ in purity. Paul directs Timothy in 1 Timothy 6:3-12 with 3 words- “Flee, Follow, Fight.” If we are to remain pure there is somethings we must flee from, somethings we must follow, and always be ready to fight.

Hell

April 26, 2016 By Jesse

This last look at the “almost parable” of Matthew 25:31-46 shoots down a lot of our misconceptions of hell. While the subject matter can be heavy and sometimes depressing, there is something redeeming in what Christ teaches on the subject- the cross of Christ should be in full view when we speak about hell.

The Not Yet- Heaven

April 19, 2016 By Jesse

April 13, 2016 By Jesse

It would be a mistake to think that Jesus would want us to simply wait for the kingdom to appear. In fact, the Christian should be well aware that the Kingdom of Christ has always been, and that there are things for us to be doing now within the Kingdom. Matthew 25:31-43 teaches us that there is something to do NOW.

King, Always

April 5, 2016 By Jesse

This series from Matthew 25:31-43, shows us that Christ has always been king and that each of us are on a collision course with the judgment seat of Christ. How does that change the way we view the world?

Subtle and Deadly Pride

March 10, 2016 By Jesse Leave a Comment

A while back I heard a sermon from a friend of mine that opened my eyes to what we often regard as a respectable sin- pride. Even now each of our own individual senses of pride are probably scrambling to defend themselves, but if scripture is true (and we know it is) then we must
