There is a reason that Luke pays so much attention to “table fellowship”… it is because it was a social symbol in the 1st century Jewish world. You knew where you were in society by where you sat at the table. While the culture would use the table to tell you that you weren’t welcome, Jesus uses tables to show people that they are indeed welcome with Him.

Psalm 121, a song of ascents, teaches us the necessity of the church- the body of Christ that a Christian is supposed to be a part of. The necessity comes because we have fears, we have doubts, and we need to be encouraged by these brothers and sisters.
