In Christ Alone

The doctrine that we are saved in Christ alone is elementary, or at least it should be. However, 2/3rds of all Christians believe that there are multiple roads to God. 1 Timothy 2:1-7 is one of many verses that prove how only Christ can serve as mediator between God and humanity.

The book of Acts ends with a bit of an irony- Paul, in prison, is sharing the gospel “unhindered.” But this ending describes the reality of how things are- under the sovereignty of God.

With Difficulty

If travel plans make you anxious, Acts 27 might make you sick. While the text is full of traveling headaches (is a shipwreck considered a headache?), it also shows the Christian that God is sovereign, and that He loves us tremendously.

We Are His Witnesses

Acts 26 is Paul’s defense before Agrippa- He is arguing for his life! And yet, Paul still takes the opportunity to talk about the authority of Christ, and the command to all of us to be witnesses of the resurrection. 20 centuries later and we still draw from this as an example on how to witness to those who are lost.

God Raises the Dead

God raises the dead; this is the gospel in concentrated form. This message can provoke hope in some knowing that this life isn’t all that there is, but it can provoke terror in others as well. Hope caused Paul to give up his own life for the sake of the Gospel, and it was terror that caused so much uproar in Jerusalem, it is the reason Paul stood on trial before Festus and Agrippa in Acts 26.
