The call to follow Christ is a call to both being His disciple, and making more disciples. The relationship shown to us of Priscilla, Aquila, and Apollos, is a good example for us to see how we are to be involved in discipleship.

There are many times when we are tempted to ignore the command of Christ- “So let your light shine to all men.” It may be because we are tempted to be swallowed up in frustration, or because we succumb to fear. Acts 18:1-17 shows Jesus encouraging Paul to “Go on, keep speaking.” This text should encourage those of us who are tempted to, borrowing words from the song, hide our lights under a bushel.

Something that has captivated me since I was a child was knowing the Paul and Silas sang hymns to God at midnight while bloodied and in bonds. This message teaches us why they sang, and why it is so important for us to sing as well.
