Many Christians do not believe that the God still speaks; but when God saves, He isn’t merely punching a ticket into eternity, He is drawing you into fellowship with Himself, so conversation should be expected.

It seems very common that the 21st century church is marked by splits and sharp disagreements, but God’s desire for His church is that we would be strengthened and united… so how do we do that when we’ve been brought up to look out for ourselves? Acts 15:36-16:5 is the text for this message.

Acts 15 is about more than a culture clash between the Jewish church and the Gentiles who were newly being saved. This chapter poses a question that people have been wrestling with for centuries: How is a Person Saved? What we also find out is how we answer that question affects more than just the individual.

Another side of Biblical history is that it is predictive; meaning that you can deduce things that will happen because they have happened in the past. Acts 14 “predicts” what we can expect of people, and, more importantly, of God, when we engage in witnessing.

Acts 12:20-24 is probably one of those verses we are tempted to read through quickly; maybe even thinking that it has little bearing on us. But this text teaches us at least two things- that God is Sovereign, and that God is to be taken seriously.

I should not be amazed at God’s timing, but I often am. Acts 12:1-19 was what I had scheduled myself to preach at the end of last year, I had no idea that I would be preaching it at a time in my life when I often approached God in tears and heart ache. I am so very grateful for God’s word, and I am so very grateful that it speaks to us, and into us.

“Christian;” It’s a word that carries a number of meanings to many people. When it first came about in Antioch it was a word that was meant to be funny, it meant “Little Christ.” This message not only takes a look at the origin of the term, but it also gives a charge to those that bear that name.
