A Spiritual House
Over the years the word “church” has become empty to some, and a curse word to others. I hope that this message serves as medicine, I hope that it heals us to not only see the church as God sees her, but to be the church that God calls us to be. Our text is 1 Peter 2:4-10
Two Responses to Jesus
In 1 Peter 2:4-10 we see God’s perspective of Jesus; Chosen, Precious… the chief Cornerstone. And that turns a question back to us: How do we see Him? What do we do with Jesus? There are really only two responses: Believe, or don’t believe. So what are the consequences of each of those conditions?
Since You Are Born Again
Our Easter message from 1 Peter 1:22-2:3… “Since we are born again,” if Christ has died and rose again for me there is a question that now marks my life: “How should I then live?”
Hope is Holy
1 Peter 1 :14-21 gets in to the specifics of how we are to prepare ourselves for Christ’s return. We are called to be holy people. But am I holy? And can I be holy?
In Christ Alone
The doctrine that we are saved in Christ alone is elementary, or at least it should be. However, 2/3rds of all Christians believe that there are multiple roads to God. 1 Timothy 2:1-7 is one of many verses that prove how only Christ can serve as mediator between God and humanity.
Grace Alone
The only reason anyone has for being justified before God is Grace alone. We explore Romans 3:21-26 to focus on this “gift.”
Faith Alone
What right does anyone have to claim that they will be in heaven? Because someone is basically a good person? Because of the things we have done? No, Romans 3:21-31 explains that a person is justified by faith alone in Christ Jesus.
Scripture Alone
What is your relationship to the Word of God? Is it the sole authority? Is it something you run to, or run from? 2 Timothy 3:12-17 teaches us to be subject to the Bible, because it is breathed into by God.
With Difficulty
If travel plans make you anxious, Acts 27 might make you sick. While the text is full of traveling headaches (is a shipwreck considered a headache?), it also shows the Christian that God is sovereign, and that He loves us tremendously.
